Just started listening. It's so good and I have learned so much (i'm practically starting in this hobby), I downloaded every episode, except episode 2. Is it available somewhere?

Thanx,

Like others posting to this entry, I'm wondering what has happened to show #2 - missing from iTunes and no link on the website to it. Did you have to withdraw it for some reason?

Hi,
I just wanted to say that this is by far the best digital photography podcast on the Web. I have listened to many of the recent shows and am starting to "catch up" on some of the older ones. Thanks very much for the shows...I am really enjoying them & learning a lot.

I have been listening to you on my iPod and catching up on the shows. I realize you are two guys in a basement, but the show is "homey" and I feel like I am there. So save a seat for me so I don't have to stand so much. :) Actually, I listen as I walk. I've lost over 70 lbs now and decided I'd treat myself when I hit that benchmark, which was about a month or so ago. I got a Canon 100-400 "L" lens. Kewl! I gained back 6 lbs somehow, and will again hit that benchmark. Seems like a good time for another benchmark gift. And in comes what you aptly termed as "analysis paralysis". Boy that is me.

I had been considering a wide angle lens. I got the 100-400 "L" because I didn't want to limit myself with an EFS lens that will work only on my Digital Rebel (300D) and other small sensor cameras. I planned on getting a 5D in time.

Now the upgrade dilemma. I could get a 30D now, with a battery grip and remote switch, or save up my fun money for another year to get the 5D. (I like getting the camera, battery grip and remote shutter release all at once and each of these carries a higher cost than for the 30D.) I really liked your review of the 5D and you discussed the degree of upgrade as the 20D to 5D wasn't worth the cost to you. You made sense. What do you think of the original Digital Rebel, a 6MP camera to the 30D, an 8 MP camera? Certainly there is also the larger LCD, faster startup, more FPS, etc. Or would you say what I have now is worth using for another year and then taking the 6 to 12 MP jump? A year from now I could have a 30D, my Rebel as a backup, the lenses I have now and a couple of nice new lenses, or a 5D and the lenses I have now. (I have Canon lenses now, the kit lens, yuk, an OK 75-300, a really good 17-85 (small sensor restricted) and the 100-400 "L".)

I also like the 3 year upgrade analogy. Under the premise of "figures don't lie, but liars figure" I got my Rebel, 3 Father's Days ago this year. Sounds like time to upgrade. (Actually I got it right before Father's Day 2004, but 3 Dad's Days must be equal to 3 years, right?)

I'm interested in your opinions. Thanks in advance. Keep up the great shows.

Hi Scott and Michael,
I've just finished listening to your second podcast and had to email you just to say thanks for the great assessment of the new Nikon and Canon DSLRs. I would class myself as an enthusiastic novice who wants to migrate from point and shoot to a higher level of amateur photography. Your show is very encouraging because you don't put your listeners off with too much jargon but at the same time you don't talk down to them - a hard balance to get right, I'm sure you'll agree. I have a Fuji Finepix F810 and a Konica Minolta Dimage A200, both very versatile cameras in their own right and ideal for me as I've been coming to terms with the fundamentals of aperture, exposure settings etc. I've taken on board your comments about looking around for a Canon EOS 20D at a discount price as the next step for me but here in the UK at least supplies seemed to have dried up! The 30D is king at the moment. And what a great interview with Bryan Peterson. His tips on white balance and wide angle photography were a revelation. I immediately went over to Amazon to order his books. It's a pity you guys don't get a cent for the plug though! Keep up the good work. I really like the format of your podcast and I'm looking forward to that Nikon-Canon face-off in the near future. Regards, Chris.
