The Digital Photography Show #5 – How To Make A Digital Scrapbook
The Digital Photography Show #5 – How To Make A Digital Scrapbook
Thanks for joining us for the fantastic fifth episode of the Digital Photography Show!
Today, Michael and I talk about Apple Aperture, a program we criticized in our first episode for costing too much. What’s happened since then? Apple’s cut the price by $200! Coincidence? You tell me.
We also talk about Bibble, another program for working with your RAW files. Michael’s used it and he’ll let us know if it’s any good. Then it’s onto the new players entering the DSLR market – what will it mean for you?
I tell Michael about my new mystery purchase. I won’t spoil the surprise here, but you check out this link once you’ve heard the show. But you do get to hear my tortured justification for the purchase – how spending money actually saves me money. Yeah, right.
After the break, I interview Renee Pearson about digital scrapbooking. I know, I know, scrapbooking sounds a little artsy-craftsy. But its really a great way to share your digital photos.
And, oh, yeah, Renee is giving away a signed copy of her terrific book, Digital Designs for Scrapbooking, to the first listener who emails us…well, I guess you’ll have to listen to the show to find out. (Evil grin).
You can also check out Renee’s blog and her digital scrapbooking online courses.
As always, thanks for listening. Please let us know what you think of the show by leaving a comment below. We live for your love!

Hi Scott & Michael,
Keep the shows coming guys. Very informative and entertaining.
Congrats to Michael for getting your first image published…it’s a great feeling! I’ve been a part-time freelance photographer for the last few years and have had my work published through an image library here in New Zealand, but one of the best ways to get your work seen is through your own website.
I joined Betterphoto.com a few years ago and purchased one of their deluxe websites. This was probably one of the best moves I made in getting my images seen. Last year a publisher saw my site after Googling ‘New Zealand Landscape photographers’. I now have had my first book published! My fulltime job is in the travel industry, but now I find most of my time is taken up with photography. Once you have had a few images published, it seems to make it a lot easier for future work.
Anyway guys, keep up the great work.
Best wishes from New Zealand,
Mike Hollman.

Hi Mike,
It was a fluke that I was published. I shot photos for my friend, the orchestra conductor. I sent him two images as a preview. Within a day the magazine requested the hi-res versions for publishing. They were not even interested in the other hundred shots. I expected them to use what I thought was the stronger image, but they went with the wide angle shot since it showed more of the orchestra. It is funny how these things happen when you are not trying.
I do have a web site (although not my own domain, yet), but it is mostly family photos and not geared towards marketing my work. Joining a site like betterphoto might push me in the right direction sooner. Thanks for the idea.
And thank you for listening to our show.
warm regards from Vermont,

Hi Scott and Michael,
Thanks for another great podcast! I find myself looking forward to Thursdays now for more than just it being the day before Friday. And how fun it was to hear Renee Pearson on the show. I’m actually in her bigpicturescrapbooking.com class and have really been enjoying it. Thanks for spotlighting her on your show!
Looking forward to the next one!
