Disneyland Fireworks

July 4, 2006: Happy Fourth of July! May this day remind us how important it is that America maintain it’s proud history as a leader in civil rights and freedom for all its citizens.  And let’s all send a special prayer to our troops abroad, and our hopes that they come home soon.

In the show Michael and I plan on taping tonight, we’re going to be talking about how to take pictures of fireworks.

Many of you probably have tried to do that over the past few days - how did your efforts turn out?

Here are some shots I took at Disneyworld about a year and a half ago - we’ll be talking about them on the show.

ROTFL. I don’t mean to step off topic for a moment,
but “America’s proud history as a leader in civil
rights?” I mean at best Americans might say they’re
coming out of the dark ages of religious, racial, and
sexual inequality. But that’s about it. And beyond that, hey, not all the audience is American. Remember,
this is the internet — the boundaries don’t just end
    at the American border.
    Americans. Geez.

For these shots I used my Canon EOS 20D, EF 24mm-70mm f/2.8L lens at 24mm, f/8. All exposures were about 1 to 2 seconds fired with a remote trigger. ISO 100.

In Brisbane (Australia) each September we have a thing called the River Festival and part of it they have a night called River Fire with lots of fire works and 1 or 2 F111 pass overs with dump and burns. Here a few shots I captured from that in 2005.

When I get more time I will have to put together an album just for fireworks… (on a better, faster server)

TonyW…great pictures. What camera are you using?

  5. TonyW Says:

Thanks! I am using a Canon 350D. The exif data should be on those images, most were taken using manual exposure with a shutter cable. I think I was lucky in that I was a fair way away from the fireworks and had no real problems with over exposure, as it was the first time I had taken fireworks.

  6. TonyW Says:

Gee Scott, that second photo of yours is really cool, the first one is more about the castle (which is nicely lit) than the fireworks…
The second one would have been even better if you had more of the castle in it.

  7. Allen Rockwell Says:

    Nice photos Scott.

I just heard you crying about nobody commenting on your fireworks photos :)

So, here I am stroking your ego!

    Feel better?

How to you put a stroke around a picture in fireworks cs3
