How to Buy a Digital SLR
July 8, 2006: CNET has this useful article on how to buy a digital SLR.
OK, when I say “this useful” I mean “I haven’t actually read it yet but it certainly is nicely laid out” article. But I WILL read it, and Michael and I will probably talk about it on next week’s show.

[...] CNET has an excellent Digital SLR Buying Guide if you’re in the market. It covers all the bases from image quality to sensors to performance to lenses and accessories without getting overly technical. In the end they nominate all the usual suspects—the DSLRS from Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, and Konica. But the article is definitely worth reading if you want to know why. via The Digital Photography Show [...]

I wasn’t so impressed myself. Firstly they didn’t mention the single biggest disadvantage of DSLRs (namely getting dust on the sensor). Secondly, they did not recommend Nikon over Canon. Only joking! ;)

Andy, would you believe I STILL haven’t read the article? Nor did Michael and I talk about it on this week’s show – which we’ve already recorded but haven’t yet posted.
Which is all Michael’s fault, although I would NEVER mention that publically and embarass him.
As far as recommending Nikon, that’s just wrong. And even though I couldn’t see switching from Canon right now, I’m all about the upcoming Sony Alpha, which, among other drool-worthy features, has dust-repulsion.
Michael and I talk about the Alpha on the show that we’ll post later tonight – IF Michael comes through – although please pretend I didn’t say that last part.

I also checked out that, and I think that there should have also been more info on lenses. learning about lenses is very difficult.
