HI Michael

No worries for the suggestion. I reckon the best thing about this podcasting thing is that we get to speak with way cool people about our favourite topics!

Back on the D80 - you could be right about it being a replacement for the D70s. Sure looking that way now.

But, what do you reckon about the rumour that it will run SD instead of CF for storage media?

I posted about this over on the Surface Interval blog (http://surfaceinterval.thepodcastnetwork.com/2006/07/28/nikon-leaks-d80-digital-slr-photos-just-13-days-before-launch-digital-camera-review/)

Cheers

Hi Denise,

Sorry about the bad link. I am very interested in the 18-200mm VR lens, but I'm not ready to shell out for both at this time. However, as Allen noted, it is incredibly tempting when it is only one click away.

Des, the whole world is wondering what this camera will be, but there are many who are convinced it is the D70s replacement, including myself. I follow Thom's site and he posts to the dpreview Nikon forums too. Thom has a lot of knowledge and has great insight. I would like to invite him on the show. Thanks for the suggestion.

Michael...the link isn't working but I can find it myself. Don't you worry, I've got this one bookmarked. Are you going to buy the kit with the new VR lens? I'm thinking about just getting the lens first. Thanks, but it's probably best if I don't look at the site right now with my credit card so close and my birthday coming up in August. That's all I need, a good reason like I'm one year older....lol.

Damn you Michael ... I clicked on your link to B&H and checked out the D-200 just for fun (I'll never switch, I've got too much Canon hardware), then I searched for the Canon 5D then created a "wish list" and added the 5D, a battery grip, 2 batteries, and an 8GB Extreme III CF card.

Now all I have to do is decide to do it and it's literally one click away :)

Thanks a lot buddy!!!!!

Denise,

Until today, I was pretty decided on the D-200 and I think I'm pretty ready to order. It turned out that B&H emailed me (their auto email stock system) yesterday to inform me they had D-200s in stock. I just checked moments ago and they are still in stock. So, if you are ready to take the leap, try ordering now.

Michael,

You know I'm waiting for the scoop on this one....I have the Nikon D70 and held off on buying the D200 since it is not easily available. When I asked B&H if they would charge my credit card as I waited in line for an arrival date, they told me that yes indeed they would. Now I don't know if it's just me but I'm not that anxious to give someone all that money when they can't even give me a delivery date. Please mention anything new you hear about it on the show. It might lessen the load of people waiting for the D200 and make them move available, or whol knows maybe it's better suited to me. Cheers and have a great day!

Hi Scott and Michael

Des here from the Surface Interval Show. I listen to your show regularly as I am an underwater photographer that has a strong interest in digital photography.

Anyway, I'll bet this isn't a replacement for the D70s. Rather, it'll be in between the D70s and the D200. My bet is that the Nikon Dxx will be at a price point somewhere close to, but probably slightly above, the Sony Alpha 100. The D70s will then drop below it.

Whatever happens, it'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

BTW, for a really interesting speculative take on the future roadmap from Nikon, take a look at Thom Hogan's site at http://www.bythom.com/roadmap.htm

As an aside, you guys should get Thom onto your show sometime.....
