January 2, 2007: I recently had a dickens of a time (what is a dickens of a time, anyway?) trying to save images as JPEGs in Photoshop.
I was importing the images through Bibble’s RAW converter, then saving them as PSDs. But when I went to save them as JPEGS, that option wasn’t available, as you can see below.
Where had my “save as jpg gone?”
I finally figured it out. Want to take a guess what was going wrong? We’ll give the answer in next week’s show.

The photo was in 16 bit mode?

You hadn’t converted your pics from 16 bit to 8 bit?

The picture was in 16 bits which is not supported by jpg :-)

You need to flatten layers first?

Love the show… but speaking of contests…. I’m always behind in listening to the your podcast so the contest is usually over before I can enter. I could jump ahead to the most recent podcast but would like to listen to them sequentially.
How about putting the details on the site so those of us living a month behind can also participate? I know it’s an incentive to listen but with such a great show, you can be guaranteed we will listen anyway… just later than then rest!

There is an option call
SAVE FOR WEB under the file menu - this will save as JPG no matter what mode you are in
