I wanted a SMALL video camera.... not so much a still... I have a Nikon D70, BIG enough. The TX1 offered excellent video in a very small package at much less than a FULL sized HD camcorder,at half the price... I have burned 5 DVD's and played them back through my 42" Panasonic Plasma.... I was very impressed. I know it might not be as "good" as a full sized DV but it is still a giant step for those of us who have grandkids and children and want to be able to "capture the moment" without lugging around another piece of large equipment.
