The Digital Photography Show #60: Win A Free Photo Workshop with Kevin Kubota and All About the Canon EOS 1D Mark III
The Digital Photography Show #60: Win A Free Photo Workshop with Kevin Kubota (24Mb, 71 mins)
July 22, 2007: Welcome to the sensational sixtieth episode of The Digital Photography Show! Sixty shows? Holy guacamole! No wonder we’re so tired!
Today, Kevin Kubota comes on to tell us about a great thing he doing: Holding one spot in each of his sold out workshops for a full scholarship to any of Kubota Image Tools’ upcoming Bootcamps – including the long sold-out October 2007 Bootcamp, for an individual who has made significant efforts to give back to his or her community.
The Digital Photography Bootcamp scholarship includes full program fee plus lodging and all meals (a $2,195 value). The scholarship winner is responsible for transportation costs to/from Rock Springs Guest Ranch in Bend, OR (www.RockSprings.com) as well as their own social activities.
To apply, photographers can e-mail Kubota Image Tools at kecia@kubotaimagetools.com with a one-page letter explaining why they should be considered for the scholarship. A description of any charity work that they currently do (whether utilizing photographic skills or not) should be included. Submissions must also include a portfolio of 20 image samples. Image file size should be no larger than 750×750 at 72dpi.
The Kubota Digital Photography Bootcamp is a 5-day workshop for professional photographers (or dedicated hobbyists) designed to supply all of the technical know-how to run a successful digital portrait/wedding studio; at the same time, it encourages continued development of a photographer’s unique style and creativity.
We here at The Digital Photography Show love, love, love this idea. It’s so important to do what you can to help make this world a better place. We applaud Kevin for his contribution towards recognizing and rewarding the volunteerism of others.
We also talk to listener Bryen Ford. Bryen is a sports photographer who is shooting with that most coveted of cameras: The Canon EOS 1D Mark III. Listen as we ask him if it’s really worth $4,500. We also talk about what lenses he uses and how he’s managed to turn what was previously a hobby into a profitable business doing photography. Making money at something you love doing? Now, there’s an idea!
We’re releasing this show probably a day or two before the nominations will be up The Podcast Awards. Many of you wrote to tell us that you nominated our show, and we deeply appreciate it. Scott,
Thanks for all the hard work from both you and Michael (and not Laurel). Really appreciate the podcast. Its great.
Noticed that you have #60 on the tpn site but it has not appeared on iTunes yet. How long does it take to get to iTunes ?
FYI - I live in Richmond, VA and would love to do a photo shoot in DC or at one of the many historical site around the Virginia area.

Hey Scott and Michael,
Great Show! I am still listening to it. But I wanted to share this link before I forget. It is to the National Association of Chartible Photographers: http://www.naocp.com/
It’s a wonderful resource for any photographer that would like to volunteer their time and resources.
TTFN,
Laurel
P.S. Hey Bob….No problem!!

Hi guys!
Many thanks for a great podcast.
I just started listening to your shows and am eagerly catching up on your previous shows too.
Great tips; I’m learning a lot and more importantly I’m inspired to take even more pictures than I usually do… if that’s possible!
Many thanks again.
Kind regards to all

Just checking: in the podcast, you said the KubotaImageTools e-mail address was “cecia” and here in the show notes it is written “kecia”. I just want to ask for a clarification here in the comments as to which is best.

Well I just recently started listening to your show and actually trying to listen to the back episodes. Really good stuff, and with a chuckle or three thrown in. Congrats on getting nominated, hopefully I will be able to vote, as I will be out of the country for awhile. Look forward to hearing more good tips.

Hey, not only were you guys successfully nominated for a Podcast Award in the Cultural / Arts category, but you also made the People’s Choice nomination! I think that’s pretty cool.
Congratulations!
