July 27, 2007: Welcome to the listener appreciation sixty first episode of The Digital Photography Show! Why are we so appreciative?

Because you nominated us for two Podcast Awards! Words can’t express how grateful we are. You made this happen and it’s incredibly humbling to know that you’d come through for us like this. You guys rule!

Voting for the awards starts on July 28th Click on any of the banners on this page to go to the voting site. You can vote once a day for us in both the Cultural/Arts category and the People’s Choice Award.

Now that we’re nominated, we’d be incredibly appreciative if you’d take the time to vote for us, too.

Did we mention you could vote once every day?

Today we’re joined by listener Michael Rather from The Digital Photography Connection (www.thedigitalphotographyconnection.com). Michael provides a great resource with this site, as well as with his two podcasts: Photoshop for Digital Photographers and Lightroom for Digital Photographers.

Michael presents a ton of free flash videos that feature different techniques for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and general photography. His videos are like really good potato chips – you can’t watch just one. And unlike the potato chips, they’re non-fattening.

Also check out the finalists for our latest photo contest here. Thanks to everyone who entered – it was really hard narrowing it down to a lucky 13 finalists. And special thanks to Laurel, Queen of All Photo Contests. You can check out the Queen’s blog at www.thephotoenthusiast.com.

The prize for this contest will be a Wacom 6×8 Graphire Tablet. Michael and I love our Wacom tablets, and after you use one, you will, too. There isn’t an easier, more intuitive or more creative way you can interact with your PC.

Please remember to sign up for email notifications from our show! We will pick one subscriber at random to win either a copy of onOne’s Plug-In Suite 3 for Adobe Photoshop, Alien Skin’s Snap Art or Rick Sammon’s DVD “Rick Sammon Live.” You get to choose.

    Hi Scott,

I’ve only recently discovered your podcast and I’m trying to download the first 2 episodes. I’ve emailed Cameron asking him on how to do it as there are no links attached. I have yet to receive a response and I’m wondering is you could help me with this.

    Thanks for your time.

    Regards,

    Tzee-Yoong

Voting is very easy! I will do it every morning until the voting ends! I have a good feeling on this one. I think you will win both!

Hey: if you guys win, let’s have some sort of celebration. Maybe a party in Vermont? I will bring the cheese.

Just finished listening to this show! Great interview! I would say you scratched the surface with Michael Rather. He was fantastic. Better than some of your superstar photographers! I would LOVE it if you would invite him back on to an in-depth interview JUST devoted to color management.

I bet he could explain the process (for both Mac and PC) in a way that I could understand. I have the Eye One Display 2; I calibrate my iMac once per month; I use an .icc profile; I have CS3. But my prints look like poop.

I used to use Windows and Qimage. Those were the good ‘ole days. Much to my chagrin, Qimage does not work on the Mac; and I do not want to run Windows on my Mac just for Qimage — at least not yet.

If you guys are not interested in a color management podcast episode, I will instead ask Michael Rather to add some “how to” color management tutorials to his wonderful site! Step 1, step 2 kind of thing.

His tutorials are some of the best I have seen on the web.

Thanks for the great podcast and the new website!!!

Good luck and I hope to see you at the finish line! Cheers! Kathy
