Cheap Watermarking Software

August 16, 2007: A couple of days ago, listener Allan posted this note on our blog:

Hi:
I have some photographs that I might like to sell and was wondering if you could speak about how to put a copyright watermark in my images also tips on selling images and what to watch out for. I don’t own a DSLR but do own a Canon A630.
I have have several thousand images, both negatives and slides from my Minolta X700 – 35mm days.
I have Adobe Photoshop Elements and IrfanView, but neither of these seem to use watermarks, can you recommend maybe a free software that
does this?

Coincidentally, I spoke on the show two weeks ago about www.BitsDuJour.com, a site that features another software deal everyday.  Well, wouldn’t you know that today they’re featuring a program called uMark Professional Image Watermarking. According to the site, uMark lets you:

Add your own visible watermark – text or a graphic – to any image.
Process multiple images. Watermark your complete portfolio at once.
Customize your watermarks – choose a font, angle, transparency, position and other options. Get exactly the effect you want.
Tile your watermarks so that they evenly cover your complete image. Your watermarked images will look as professional as the originals.
Make watermarked images without altering the originals.
Resize the watermarked images, and even generate thumbnails, in 1 step.

It’s not free, Allan, but at 50% off ($10) it ain’t bad. Let us know what you think. But the deal’s only good for today, so think fast!
