The Canon 40D is coming! The Canon 40D is coming!
August 20, 2007: Many of you have helpfully written in with today’s big news: Canon has announced that it’s (finally!) releasing the 40D.
Now I have to sell one of my limbs so I can afford it! Any takers?

Hmm, it’s still missing the eye controled focus selection that’s on their film slrs. :(

Eye control would have been nice - I have it on my 30V but it doesn’t work through my glasses and I have a correction lens on the camera but taking my glasses off to take a shot and then put them back on again is a hassle. Lets see how it goes and then maybe it’s time to put the old 20D out to pasture.
No mention of the sensor cleaning but I can’t see them leaving it off when it is on the 400D.

Oh! I want this camera bad. This is the first option from Canon to tempt me in 30 months.

I want it, too! Of course, as host of the show, it’s my duty to always have the latest and greatest…or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.
Julian, it does have hardware based and software based sensor cleaning.

Well, this week, paper work was signed for a couple contract photography gigs that I will shoot in November. Its official I now need another body to compliment my venerable 350D.
Do I purchase a 30D? Hell No! I wait for the 40D in late September. Now my dilemma is to go with the 28-135mm IS EF-S kit lens which duplicates a range I already own? Or purchase the 40D body only and grab a 10-22mm EF-S USM for an extra $300.00 which will compliment my 28-200 EF USM?

Well. I like what I see. I am a EOS Rebel user and i am excited to make the move all the way up to the 40D. I have been holding out for sometime waiting for this and glad it’s finally here.
Does anyone currently shoot using the wireless function on the 30D. This is a pricey option, but I can defintely find uses.

Go for the 10-22. You’ll love it.
