The Digital Photography Show #68A: This is Not The Digital Photography Show (again)

**Publisher’s Note** Hey folks, Cameron from TPN here. As we’re still getting reports from people that iTunes is pulling down show 58 instead of 68, so I’m re-publishing this. Apologies to people who might get it twice.

September 14, 2007: Welcome to the sixty eight episode of The Digital Photography Show!

Or, the first episode of Not the Digital Photography Show.

Today, Michael and I talk about the trials, troubles and tribulations that led to our NOT doing our regularly scheduled show this week.

It’s kind of non-traditional for a show’s hosts to talk so openly about the problems they’re having with production, but we’re not interested in hiding behind a faux-corporate façade where we’re always perfect and never suffer human foibles. That to us is very “mainstream media” in the worst sense of the phrase.

We think of our show as a conversation between friends – and that includes you. It’s in that spirit that we present the first episode of The Digital Photography Show that features almost no discussion about digital photography.

We’re going out on a limb with this one, but it was either this or you wouldn’t hear from us at all. And we’d miss talking with you.

Here’s my incredibly brave and strong son Sasha in the hospital awaiting his operation. BTW: This was taken with my iPhone.

We’d love to hear what you thought of the show either here on the blog or at TheDigitalPhotographyShow@gmail.com.

Thanks to our advertiser DXO (www.dxo.com) for the 20% discount they are only offering to listeners of this show. Try the program for free, and when you’re ready to buy, use the code DPSSHOW.

And don’t forget the fifty buck discount on Alien Skin’s Snap Art (http://www.alienskin.com/snapart/index.html) and the 50% discount on Exposure (http://www.alienskin.com/exposure/index.html) . Just call and tell them you heard about it on The Digital Photography Show.

We also appreciate the sponsorship of Wacom and Lensbabies, two great products for when you want to get creative with your photography.

Thanks for joining us and we promise to be back next week with the REAL Digital Photography Show.

This is what makes podcasting such a great media, much better than radio. Glad to hear things are now coming along good. God Bless!

    Scott and Michael,

Your dedication to your show is amazing. Had my child been going through something like this, my blog would not have even been on my radar! In any case, please keep us posted as you are in our thoughts and prayers here. (I sent out some good vibes via my blog today for you too…so hopefully you’ll get a lot of good vibes coming at you from the Southeast!) We had a dear family friend who suffered from Cerebral Palsy too, and know how tough things can get when dealing with these things. Kind of puts life and the hobby of photography in perspective, so please take care and know your fans are thinking and praying for you! God bless you both!

    Scott,

I’m sorry to hear about your son Sasha, I wish your family well.

I was listening to your podcast and have some ideas for repairing your drive. Many times its the drive controller, the circuit board on the drive. Sometimes you can buy the exact same model drive, and take the board off the new drive and replace the one on the bad drive. This is often significantly cheaper than a recovery service.

Additionally because of the raid, an external enclosure will not work to recover the data because of the striping.

I can look up some resources if you are interested.
