We are experiencing technical difficulties, Please Stand By…
Many listeners have written to us to let us know that our show is not able to be downloaded from iTunes and other sites. Thank you. In the interim, you should be able to download the show directly from our site. Scott and I do not know the exact nature of the issue, but we know the folks at TPN are working hard to get it resolved. We apologize for all the troubles you might have experienced and appreciate your patience. We hope this all gets resolved very soon and can get back to podcasting. In the meantime, feel free to go out and make some great photos!
If you would like to contact us, please write us at thedigitalphotographyshow@gmail.com

Hi Guys,
yes downloading from the website works fine. I can download the whole file and play it just fine in iTunes (start to end).
However, when I upload it to my iPod, it plays for just two minutes and then it stops. So I think there is something slightly wrong with the original encoding. Just a guess… :-)

I can confirm what Mauro says. Stops just after 2 mins on an ipod, but you can listen all the way through on the PC. It does noticeably jump from Scott talking about a document being available to Michael talking around this time if that helps pin-point the issue.

Your show is worth the wait!

Any update on when you’ll be back?

Cameron from TPN here folks. As far as I’m aware, the Digital Photography site is functioning as normal at the moment. #88 was fixed and should be downloading okay in itunes and playing on your ipod. If you have any problems, please notify me asap - cameron@thepodcastnetwork.com.
We are in the process of building a new server environment for TPN at the moment and hopefully we’ll be a lot more stable in about a week.
For regular updates on TPN’s health, please see the TPN blog: http://tpn.thepodcastnetwork.com
thanks and apologies for the recent problems!

Cameron:
I downloaded the podcast this morning after seeing your post (above). Once again, the download had that skip at the beginning that sent my podcast into “suddenly off” mode. So, there is something still wrong even with the latest download (at least for those who listen on their iPods).
I will be on vacation for one week. But I will download the latest as soon as I return!
Thanks for helping to rescue our favorite podcast!

I also had the 2 minute(ish) lockup problem with show #88 on my iPod.
I’ve just deleted my first copy of that show from my computer and my iPod and I then “unsubscribed” to the DPS and then “subscribed” again (via iTunes). Now iTunes can “see” all of the DPS shows except show #88 (ie iTunes lists all of the shows with a “get” option, but not show #88). So there still appears to be a problem with that show. Good luck with finding a fix. I’m keen, as usual, to listen to the show.

Arch - yeah. Scott and Michael told me that the feed still wasn’t working this morning. I’ve asked the techs to look at it asap! Unfortunately, with the recent hacks on our servers, it seems like as soon as we fix something, it breaks again with 24 hours. We’re busy building out fresh servers which should resolve this issue when they are ready early next week. Thanks for your patience folks!

Landya - I just saw your comment! How very strange indeed. I’ve no idea what there can be in the mp3 that could turn off your ipod! I’ll have a play around with it here to see if I can replicate and resolve the issue! Once again, terribly sorry for the problems. Enjoy your vacation!

I have started listening to the old podcasts from 2 years ago, to fill the time until you have the current show up and running again. They still sound good. Good luck with getting your issues fixed.

Cameron: Just to verify what Landya said: I, too, had the “2 minute skip” problem. It would take me right out of the show at about 1:58 into it and would take me out to the playlist menu. However, I discovered that by scrolling ahead to about the 3 minute mark, I could resume listening. Never seen anything like that. Good luck getting the servers rebuilt. Hackers, go hack World of Warcraft or something….

I too had the the mp3 issue and discovered the fast-forward hack. Works fine if you skip ahead.
April 24th, 2008 at 5:28 am
When playing on iPod, it restarts to the beginning of the show at around the 2 minute mark, like for most other people in this comment page. The skipping ahead technique unfortunately doesn’t work for me. When I try to fast forward, it stalls and then resets back to the beginning of the show OR freezes the iPod (requiring a hard-reset), whether I skip ahead 5 minutes or 10 minutes. Best of luck finding a solution!

I had the same problem that Kangster and Steven had. The fast-forward hack was the only way for me to get through the show. I downloaded it, as always, through iTunes.
Michael Stein, I am now shooting with a Nikon D300, which I added to my system last week! My D40 is now a trusty back up body. Not sure, did you go for the D3, or D300?

Are you guys coming back or what?
April 24th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Hi everybody,
Scott and I are waiting for TPN to resolve all their server issues before we resume. Believe me, it is very frustrating for us, but there is not much we can do but wait. We look forward to resuming the show. Thanks for sticking with us.
Arthur, I still shoot with D200. A Nikon D3 is still on loan from Nikon along with the 14-24mm and 24-70mm lenses. The high iso performance is absolutely amazing. I am trying not to get too attached to the camera. I’ll be looking into a D300, but I wonder if I can hold out until the next version.

Hey Michael
When you say “hold out for the next version” what do you mean? I’m about a week or less from buying the D300, but maybe you know something that I should know. I’m a sponge for input at this point. Anyone else?
Thanks.

Hi Paul,
I don’t have any information about upcoming cameras. I simply know that eventually, there is a new version. Sometimes that comes in the form of a major update or sometimes it is a very minor one. I’m figuring/hoping a D300 update might come in early 2009. I have no basis for that hope except the life cycle for cameras is getting to be something like 18 months, give or take.
If you are ready to buy now, then by all means do it. Don’t wait.

Hi guys!
I’m eagerly waiting for new shows to arrive, even though the break gives me a chance to catch up with the older shows.
Can you enlighten us about when the new shows will be up please? Thanks!
